Civil Society Consultation for US Country Visit of UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights
On April 23rd, ICAR and the Human Rights Institute at Georgetown University Law Center hosted the UN Working Group (WG) on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises as part of its country mission to the United States. The purpose of the WG mission to the US was to focus on efforts, experiences, challenges and lessons learned relating to implementation of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in the US. As part of the visit, ICAR invited leading representatives from civil society to speak in panels focused on the State Duty to Protect, the Corporate Responsibility to Respect, and Access to Remedy.
A video recording of the event is available below:
ICAR also collected written submissions to present to the WG, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the U.S. Government, as a “state of play” from civil society in the United States on implementation of the UN Guiding Principles.
